About Contract Carpet One

We started our journey in the flooring industry over 80 years ago when Louis Zanelotti, the father of our founder, Anthony, began setting ceramic tile in such historic places as the National Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. A journeyman tile setter, Louie’s hard hands showed the cracks that were common of fine building tradesmen, most of whom were Italian immigrants. As a young man, Louie taught his son Tony the skills of the trade but the call to arms of World War II stopped short Tony’s career in ceramic installations.

Upon his return to the States, Tony became a Washington, D.C. police officer and then started working part and then full time for the Hinkle Rug Company in order to make extra money to support his expanding family of six children. In 1976 he struck off on his own and opened Contract Carpet Systems to provide floor covering to the expanding commercial market in the metropolitan area that is the Nation’s Capital. In 1985, his son, Kurt Zanelotti, joined him in the business and continues to operate both Contract Carpet Systems, and Contract Carpet One Floor and Home as its President and Owner.

Today, Contract Carpet Systems/Contract Carpet One is the top choice in Maryland Carpet Installation and floor covering providers and operates and is licensed in four states and the District of Columbia. We are proud of our heritage and our ability to say that we truly have been a part of the building of our Nation’s Capital, one square yard or square foot at a time! We are equally proud that our business has allowed us support our many employees, their families, and our philanthropies such as Believe in Tomorrow Foundation, the University of Maryland Terrapin Club, the Susan B. Komen Foundation, among others.
